Tall fescue is a very adaptable grass that can grow in wet or dry conditions and in soils with low or high fertility. It is ideal for sacrifice lots, waterways, outdoor wintering, and winter stockpiling because it tolerates hoof and wheel traffic. To graze tall fescue, it must be kept short to ensure palatability. Studies show that it deserves more recognition as a hay/haylage crop. At a 3-4” cutting height, tall fescue will last a long time.
