Milking Comfort is a post teat dip that is used after every milking replacing your current post dip. Extensive research was done on many essential oils and herbal extracts this last summer comparing their effectiveness compared to iodine (the milking industries standard post dip). As a result a very effective antibacterial post dip was formulated not only with great antibacterial properties, but also very effective as a teat conditioner, teat soother, and with wonderful healing properties. Our research indicated that Milking Comfort was more effective than the control in having residual antibacterial properties; meaning that the longer the new dip was used, the fewer bacteria were cultured on the teat ends!

Two other great benefits were noted in the research that we had not see with the iodine control were its effectiveness with fly control and residue left on the teats at the next milking. During spring, summer, and fall flies are the main vehicle by which Staph auras and other mastitis causing bacteria is spread from cow to cow. Milking Comfort post teat dip did a wonderful job at preventing flies from landing on the end of the teat eager for a milk lunch as soon as the milkers came off. The second benefit was residue left on the teats at the next milking. Milking Comfort left a slight sheen on the teats that not only meant there was still effective bacterial and fly control throughout the day, but it was also easier to clean the teats due to the slight oil residue left on the teats.
